Turning Miles into Impact: The Origin Story of TriFundit

For over 28 years, my work as a pastor taught me that community and purpose go hand in hand. But in 2011, a sobering realization shifted my focus to a cause that hit too close to home: human trafficking. Living in Florida, a known hotspot for this issue, and being a father of three, I could no longer see it as a distant problem. It was happening right in our backyard. I felt compelled to act, not just for my own family but for those whose voices are unheard.

This conviction led to the creation of the Hope Ride for Freedom in 2017—a 300-mile cycling event aimed at raising awareness and funds to combat human trafficking. Our first ride brought together 22 cyclists, and with their determination, we raised $50,000. As more events followed, we surpassed the $200,000 mark. Yet, I knew we could do more. I wanted to reach $1 million, but I recognized that traditional fundraising events alone weren't going to get us there.

The idea for a more innovative solution came in 2021, mid-ride, as I pondered how to turn the momentum we had built into something that could sustain itself beyond a single event. Fundraising needed to shift from being event-based to a lifestyle that allowed people to support causes continuously. That’s when TriFundit began to take shape—a platform that would empower individuals to blend their passion for fitness with their drive for philanthropy. It wouldn’t be just about one ride or one event but a way to turn everyday activities into opportunities for impact.

TriFundit offers a way for athletes and fitness enthusiasts to support any 501(c)(3) organization of their choice through the activities they already love—whether it’s cycling, running, or even paddle sports. Our platform transforms every step, mile, or hour of effort into a way to give back. It’s a departure from the traditional, often burdensome methods of fundraising, making it easier and more accessible for everyone to contribute to causes close to their hearts.

While the vision for TriFundit took time to refine, the mission remained simple: make it easier for people to do good. We’re building a community of active changemakers who can support nonprofits and global causes through their everyday lifestyle. It’s not just about hitting a fundraising goal but about making giving a natural part of how we live.

Looking back, the journey has been one of growth and opportunity—establishing the platform, forming meaningful partnerships, and connecting with a community of passionate users. The potential impact of turning fitness into a force for good keeps us moving forward. With TriFundit, I believe we can shape a future where philanthropy seamlessly integrates into everyday life, empowering people to make a difference through every activity.
